What is what does it mean when my message doesn't say delivered on iphone?

When an iPhone message doesn't say "Delivered," it usually means one of the following:

  • The recipient's phone is off or has no service: If the recipient's iPhone is powered off, in airplane mode, or in an area with no cellular or Wi-Fi coverage, your message won't be delivered until their phone is back online. See more about no%20service.

  • The recipient has iMessage turned off: iMessage is Apple's proprietary messaging service. If the recipient has disabled iMessage in their settings, your message will be sent as a regular SMS text message (green bubble), which doesn't have delivery confirmations in the same way. Learn about iMessage.

  • The recipient has blocked your number: If someone blocks your number, messages you send to them won't be delivered, and you won't receive a "Delivered" notification. See more about blocked%20number.

  • There may be a temporary issue with iMessage: Sometimes, there can be temporary server issues with Apple's iMessage service that prevent messages from being delivered promptly. These issues are usually resolved quickly. Learn about iMessage%20server.

  • The recipient hasn't enabled "Send Read Receipts": While this doesn't affect the "Delivered" status, if the recipient has disabled "Send Read Receipts," you won't see a "Read" notification even if they have read your message. This setting is separate from the "Delivered" status. See about Send%20Read%20Receipts.

  • The recipient isn't using an iPhone: If the recipient is using an Android or other non-Apple phone, your messages will be sent as SMS texts, which don't have "Delivered" confirmations via iMessage.
